Claire Olverson Obituary: Beloved Young Girl Remembered for Courage, Kindness, and Strength
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Claire Olverson, who died peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, following a brave battle with metastatic bone cancer. Surrounded by her loving family and close friends, Claire’s final moments reflected the deep love and support that defined her life.
Born on July 16, 2012, in Newburyport, Claire grew up to be a bright and compassionate young girl. She attended St. Joseph Regional Catholic School, where she excelled academically and built lasting friendships. Her dedication to learning earned her a merit scholarship to Central Catholic High School, a testament to her intelligence and determination.
Claire enjoyed simple joys that brought happiness to her everyday life, including playing video games with her sister and friends, collecting slime, watching horror movies, riding roller coasters, and spending time at the beach. She had a deep love for cats and counted calamari among her favorite foods. Despite her young age, Claire dreamed of becoming an oncologist—an aspiration shaped by her own journey and desire to help others.
Diagnosed with cancer at just 10 years old, Claire displayed extraordinary strength and resilience. She selflessly participated in medical research efforts, hoping her experience could contribute to advancements that would benefit others facing similar battles. Throughout her treatment, she remained courageous and composed, never losing sight of the love that surrounded her.
Claire was preceded in death by her grandparents Donna and James Olverson, her grandfather Charles Kunovic, and her uncles Brent and Kent Pattison. She is survived by her devoted parents, Stephanie and David Olverson; her sister, Erin Olverson; her grandmother Mary Kunovic; and her aunts Judy Pattison, Kim Pattison, and Karen Boric, along with countless friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A wake will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial Mass at St. Joseph’s Church at 1:00 PM.
In honor of Claire’s life and legacy, loved ones are encouraged to send flowers or make donations to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. Her story of courage, compassion, and unwavering strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
